How to Stay Consistent with Healthy Habits.
“Consistency is the only difference between a successful person and a failure”. For you to be good at anything, consistency is not an option. But I also understand that, it’s easier to plan for consistency than actualising it.
So how can you stay consistent in a world full of distractions, criticisms, self doubt and fear?
- Prioritising healthy habits – we all have 24 hours a day. There’s a lot of things that you can do for 24 hours and if you don’t plan well, your day is open to just about anything including destructive habits. Start your day, week and even month with a plan of your activities which will guide your actions. Make sure that the healthy Habits that you want to achieve make it to the top 5 of your daily activities and repeat this as frequently as you can and with no time, you’ll find yourself easing into your Healthy self routines 😊.
- Visualising the end goal – Understanding what you want to achieve from your consistent actions is very important. If you are artistic or can use visual apps like Photoshop, you can create an image of the things that you want to achieve. If not, you can always create the images in your mind but make sure you write them down and place them where you can see them oftenly. Sometimes when things are hard and the body is struggling to adapt to changes, the brain locks it away literally and you might forget to do it because it’s perceiving it as hard. Having a picture or the goals that you want written down, will help you remind yourself to keep up with the consistency.
- Having a plan B- Most of the times when we are setting goals on change, we might go hard and set actions that might be too drastic for us. For instance, if you’re struggling with something like addiction, whether drugs, sugar, food, alcohol, cigarettes, sex, gambling or any other form of addiction, drastic changes in your routine might not be the best because the body might fight you so much and in most of the time we fall into relapse. A plan B is not an easier option, it’s just a better option than relapse. As you set your goals, remember to come up with a fall back plan and then make sure you work your way up to the original plan.
- Praying/ Spiritual strength – As a human being, our mental strength is influenced by so many things and one of them is out spiritual strength. Consistency is all about mindset so priotising mental strength is important. Find your inner being and work on that. Pray if you believe in prayers, meditate or do the necessary to make sure you’re aware and well connected to your inner being.
- Remember giving up is not an option – “You’ll only pull through the challenges, if you have no option of quitting”. If bad habits are compromising your relationships, health and financial stability, it’s about time you stop if you want to be a better YOU. Not giving up is the only thing that will help you achieve that.
As you plan to stay consistent, remember to be gentle with yourself, love yourself at all your stages including the ones that you might think are the worst. If you love yourself enough, you’ll pull through and stay consistent.
All the best in all that you’re struggling with and remember that, “Winners never quit”.
Love always 💕❤️
