Over the weekend, the world, I included we were all following Hilda’s story. An established chef who currently holds the world Guinness book of record for the most hours- 100 hours to be precise – cooking.

But her story didn’t start over the weekend or even last year. It started way back when she first identified her passion ( that is cooking), perfected the art through learning and practice (cooking) then along the way she must have come across this record and because of self belief and confidence, she knew if she prepares well enough – physical strength, mental and emotional well being and having a support system, she could ace it. And she did 💯

She believed in her abilities, did her homework well and got to work.

So what are the most valuable lessons that I have gotten from her story?

* Passion can drive results – what do I mean? Most of the time, because of societal norms and beliefs, we are made to believe that things we enjoy doing are not sustainable and can all be done part time, but c’mon guys, Hilda took her passion for cooking, showed it to the world and bagged a World record. Don’t discard your passion yet.

* Goals are good but planning for them is the only thing that will make you stand out. You want to be known for public speaking, content creation or anything else. Set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time bound) goals then identify skill set, actions and plans that you’ll need in order to achieve them then get to work.

Hilda knew she had to be in the best physical, mental and health state if she was to bag this. She went to the gym, worked out, ate Healthy, took care of her lifestyle, ensured her support system was around ( y’all saw her mom and boyfriend there the whole time). Support is not always about money people.

She also knew she wanted this but also had to be ok first and that is why we saw a team of doctors nurses and other healthcare workers constantly checking on her during the whole time.

This was a reminder that achieving goals are important, but your well being is importanter. So as we chase dreams and ambitious we also remember to take care of ourselves. It’s important.

* The last lesson I got from her was, if you want it bad , you’ll be patient enough, persistence enough, resilience enough to get it. How bad you want that dream life will determine how hard you work for it. Because let me not lie to you, nothing good comes easy. The ups of a start up are usually very small compared to the downs. It gets hard, I mean I want to quit hard, but if you want it enough, you’ll find a way to go around it and keep at it.

Set goals for things you want enough to put your best foot forward for so that you can stay focused on the price

Hers was a  story of resilience, persistence and patience and I’m here for it all.

Congratulations Hilda Baci. Africa is proud to be associated with you.

Love and Light always ❤️❤️
