Employers love employees who are productive and most importantly their productivity reflects in output which means more sales, more clients, more closed deals and so forth.

You see, most of the time when talking about productivity things like time management, efficiency in planning/organization and execution skills are the ones that cross our minds.

But do you think about the body and the brain that you need to be productive? How fueled is it? How energised are you? How mentally alert and active is your brain? How capable is your body to take you through the long hours?

All this factors are usually underlooked when talking about productivity.

In today’s article, we dive into nutrition habits that help with productivity to ensure that you are the best in your field;

✅ The first one on the list is REST– In the fast paced world we are living, Quality and enough Rest is underated. Rest is important to allow your brain to rest, your cells to repair themselves and this will help improve your general well being including productivity. It also helps with reducing mental Issues like anxiety, depression, fatigue and others that affect productivity negatively.

Always have breakfast – currently, intermittent fasting is like a thing of everybody. Don’t get me wrong, I totally understand the importance of intermittent fasting especially to people who have sedentary lifestyles because if you don’t use it, you should avoid overloading your body with it right.

But again, having a healthy balanced ( Quality protein, Healthy fats and whole carbs- whole foods) is very important to kickstart your day with energy to keep you active. Again it’s great for hormone health which influences energy metabolism that would ensure continuity of energy release throughout the day. Plan your fasts with breakfast in mind 💯

Be physically active – Exercise is the only thing that tears to build. You burn calories to create a pool of energy reserves. So get walking, running or even weight training. Just get moving if you want to be energised and active.

Include all types of fruits and Vegetables into your routine. This is essential in providing your body with essential nutrients like vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients that are great for brain health and metabolic health and this is very good for Energy, fuel and functionality. As I always say consume a rainbow ( Green, yellow, red, purple, white) to ensure you get the variety of nutrients in the different plants.

Adequate Consumption of Quality Protein– Combine both plant and animal sources of protein. This is because protein is not only essential in tissue and muscle repair, but it’s also great for brain function and concentration. Consume enough.

Take enough Fluids/Water – Hydration is a critical thing in your general well being. It’s great for metabolic health, cellular health and definitely brain function. Not taking enough water and fluids, can bring fatigue, headaches and reduced mental function. So ensure that you take enough water, take sips through out the day and ensure you’re well hydrated.

Healthy Fats – things like sea foods – fish, omena, nuts, codliver oil, butter, ghee, cheese, Avocado and more are essential in providing omega 3 which is great for brain health. They support Cognitive function and improve mood. Ensure you include this healthy fats into your routine.

Be a mindful eater – in simple terms practice what we call digestion Hygiene. Honour your meal times, eat and chew foods slowly and well, try getting a calm environment for eating to avoid distractions and more. This will help improve digestion and overall satisfaction with your food.

Limit Synthetic sugars and Caffeine – I know the temporary energy boost you get from having that cup of coffee can be addictive – trust me I know, but taking too much of it through out the day can have negative impact on your mental function. Go easy on it a cup or two a day is more than enough if you practice the habits we’ve discussed above. You’ll find yourself needing less ‘energy boost ‘ in the long run.
