🥑Nutrition is a key aspect in Management of Diabetes and other blood sugar Related conditions like Insulin Resistance, Pre-diabetes, Hormonal irregularities and more.

🌾Understanding carbohydrates – The key Nutrient that spikes blood sugars – is very essential in controlling blood sugars naturally. When selecting your meals, the type of carbohydrates, portion and the load of carbohydrates in a particular meal is very key in regulation blood sugar spikes and energy release.

🍠Aim for whole complex carbohydrates as they regulate digestion and glucose release to the blood steam as opposed to the refined and processed carbohydrates. In addition to the type of carbohydrates, make sure you check on Quantity of carbohydrates in a particular meal.🥞

🥐The above meal is a perfect example of a high load carb meal as you can see from the size of the mandazi and clearly, water is the main ingredient in the tea and let’s not forget Kenyans will go ahead and add table sugar to the tea making matters worse.

🌟What would have been ideal, is adding nuts/ eggs, a banana/ mango or a slice of water melon or thorn melon and reduce the size of the mandazi by half or less to reduce the carb load.

By adding an egg or nut, you increase Healthy fats and 🧑‍🍳proteins making the meal more balanced, complete and at the same time reducing carb load.
