I breastfed my baby Exclusively for 6 months and Continued with it up to 20 months. She naturally stopped when she got the hack of Cow milk🍼.

As a Dietetic Professional and a Mother, here are my best pro tips to help you overcome the challenges of breastfeeding.

But first, If you’re struggling with Breastfeeding, let me know in the comment section your struggles and make sure you head over to my YouTube Channel, I have a video up on “Supporting Breastfeeding for New and Expectant Moms”. I promise the 11 minutes are worth your while ❤️ https://youtu.be/hRiBJk76zfw?si=4M7uwc5LUOHuDbT-

1️⃣ Plan and Prepare Psychologically for breastfeeding while pregnant – In this era, pressures are everywhere and you’ll probably stumble on your favourite Influencer telling you how she fed her baby on formula and it was a game changer 😔. She’ll even go ahead and tell you that her boobs are still intact because of her decision and because of the good job that her editor does, you’ll fall into her trap (btw, breastfeeding doesn’t make boob’s sag – A story for another day).

2️⃣ Identify your support system – it can be your spouse, a friend, your mom or even your favourite dietitian ❤️. Talk to them about the fears or the challenges you might experience. Remember to walk with a registered dietitian to help you in ensuring your milk quality and quantity stays perfect throughout the breastfeeding period. I have a monthly coaching program for Kshs. 3,000 and I’ll be glad to have you for the next intake we tackle all your worries on Breastfeeding. 3️⃣ Allow yourself some Grace – Breastfeeding is a noble course. As a woman you might be forced to give up certain things like Alcohol, smoking and a crazy life routine for you to support and maintain breastfeeding. Be gentle with yourself all through the process and remember it’s worth it because your baby will have the right start and this can be the main difference between you and a mom who’s always in hospital because her baby is sick. Again remember your influencer is not always right 😎▶️.

4️⃣ Get some rest every little chance you get ❤️. Your baby’s stomach capacity is very small and to ensure that they get proper Nourishment, it’s recommended that they are fed every 2/3 hours. This means as a mom, your sleep will be disrupted every 2/3 hours. For this reason, if you can, Express & let someone else feed them as you rest, because you’ll need to continue producing milk ❣️🍼.

Remember to enjoy the moments because they grow up so fast and before you know it, they’re going to school and you’re nagging them 😔😎😎

As always,
