From what I’ve gathered, Consistency is the “secret” to success. Even if you want to bag the ‘Laziest person on planet earth’ you still need to be consistent with being lazy.
Even with the importance of Consistency, staying consistent can be tough especially when you feel like you’re input doesn’t match outcomes.
In this post I’ll share with you 5 Key things that helps me stay consistent with my actions/work plan so that I can achieve my goals:
1️⃣ Plan for the ‘Bad’ phase – that phase where you are expected to keep on doing the work whether results are showing or not. I call it the Input and Process phase.

There’s a lot of learning needed for you to achieve your desired goals, you must also ensure that you stay consistent with actions otherwise you’ll stagnate in this phase longer than you want. It’s very easy for most of us to quit in this phase because this is where Reality hits and you start realising the task wasn’t as easy as you thought.
Plan for this phase by researching about the industry, reading or listening to others who’ve overcome the same phase to help you with the needed motivation to keep going.
2️⃣ Having Realistic Expectations: The excitement of starting a new venture can make us set very unrealistic goals. Unless you’ve been a Key player in the industry you’re venturing into remember to keep your goals realistic.
Don’t undermine your abilities but keep your goals in line with your skills, environment and exposure ( what you can capitalise on). Remember to leave room for learning the needed skills.
3️⃣ Adjust your mindset to a Growth mindset; this is the best for consistency because as we plan for our goals and expectations, we don’t know what the future holds ( we do this with projections).
With this, we are likely to experience challenges and shortcomings that we had not foreseen. A growth mindset allows flexibility in your work plan as needed so that you can stay on track,
4️⃣ Mentorship over Comparisons: I believe there’s nothing new under the sun. We have individuals who’ve done extra ordinary things that we can emulate from. Even from our peers, there those that we can learn from and this will foster consistency and success.
Comparisons on the other hand will leave you feeling like you’re not good enough or you can’t break certain barriers cause you don’t have connections or even a certain amount of money and this will make you loose momentum faster. The Wise men say ‘ Comparison is the thief of joy and I couldn’t agree with them more.
5️⃣ Prayers & Spiritual Strength. The mind and the body are connected spiritually. How you feel influences your moods and most of the time actions as well.
As humans for us to maximise on Productivity, a balance between our Emotional, Physical, Mental and Spiritual wellbeing must be maintained. Seeking guidance from an Higher being gives us confidence to stay consistent.
Remember to stay consistent so you can achieve your dreams.
