Waiting—whether for a job offer, a business breakthrough, or results in skin and hair care—is a season of its own. It’s a time that can bring self-doubt, frustration, and even a sense of defeat.
As a dietitian and entrepreneur, I know this all too well. I’ve sent out job applications and faced silence, pushed my business forward while still waiting to break even, and trusted the process with every new product/service that I offer. But through it all, I’ve learned that how we wait can change everything.

Here’s what I’ve found works to maintain a positive attitude while waiting:
1. Get Busy with Other Things
Sitting around focusing on what hasn’t happened yet can feel like being stuck in a loop. When I realized this, I started filling my time with activities that enrich me. This could be learning something new, networking, planning content for my wellness platform, or even helping others in small ways. Not only does it distract you from the waiting, but you also grow and build yourself up in ways that may actually contribute to the outcome you’re hoping for.
2. Pray or Reflect on Your Why
There’s something deeply comforting about grounding ourselves in faith or purpose, especially in times of uncertainty. I pray about my goals and ask for guidance in moments of doubt. Even if praying isn’t your approach, consider setting aside time to reflect on why you’re waiting in the first place. Reconnecting with the reason you’re on this journey can renew your hope and make the wait feel less burdensome.
3. Use Positive Affirmations to Lift Your Spirits
Words have power. When I find myself discouraged, I practice positive affirmations to remind myself of my strengths and what I’m working toward. Simple statements like, “I am capable,” “I am on the right path,” or “What’s meant for me will come in its own time” can be transformative. Repeating these daily rewires your mind, helping you approach each day with hope rather than anxiety.
4. Prioritize Your Physical and Emotional Wellbeing
In moments of waiting, taking care of yourself is often the first thing to slip. But let me tell you, you’re going to need every ounce of strength and resilience, both physically and emotionally. I exercise, eat well, and make time for self-care because feeling good in my body helps keep my spirits up. The wait may be long, but if you nurture yourself, you’ll be strong and ready when your moment arrives.
Staying Patient and Positive Isn’t Easy, But It’s Worth It
Waiting will test your resilience. It’s natural to feel discouraged at times, but if you stay committed to these small practices, you’ll find a new kind of strength. You’re not just waiting; you’re preparing, growing, and positioning yourself for the success that’s just around the corner.
