For many people, losing weight is challenging, but sustaining it long-term can be even harder. While I fully support efforts to encourage healthier eating and active lifestyles, I often notice that weight loss challenges and quick-fix programs emphasize short-term results over sustainable, healthy habits.

Take, for instance, the popular 75-day challenge. It has gained a lot of attention, with coaches guiding participants through rigorous physical routines paired with crazy dietary changes. This is encouraging, as it brings awareness to the importance of exercise and mindful eating ( for those coaches doing it right). However, I often wonder—what happens after those 75 days? Will participants maintain those habits, or will the intense drive fade, only to be replaced by “lazy days” and eventually, a cycle of yo-yo dieting?

The key to sustainable weight loss isn’t just adrenaline and excitement; it’s about cultivating a holistic, balanced approach. Just as quickly as enthusiasm builds, it can also turn into burnout or stress, which can trigger the stress hormone cortisol. In the long term, this can actually hinder progress by leading to weight gain and stress eating.
Why Most Weight Loss Challenges Fall Short
Many popular weight loss challenges rely on strict diets and intense exercise routines, which can bring quick results. However, they often lack a maintenance plan for when the challenge ends, leading to a cycle of lost motivation and regained weight. What’s missing is an adaptable, holistic weight management approach that integrates change step by step. This helps build habits that fit into your daily life, making weight loss sustainable.
A Holistic Approach to Sustainable Weight Loss
When working with my clients, I always emphasize sustainable weight loss strategies rather than daily weigh-ins, restrictive diets, or obsessively counting calories. These methods can add stress, making weight loss harder to maintain over time. Instead, I advocate for gradual, consistent changes that support long-term success and improved metabolic health.

For example, rather than imposing extreme restrictions on favorite foods, we focus on healthy swaps and portion adjustments. Small steps—like choosing healthier versions of foods you already enjoy—can lead to sustainable change.
Likewise, exercise doesn’t need to start with an hour of intense workouts. Starting with 10 minutes of simple movement daily and building from there can make it easier to integrate physical activity into your life without feeling overwhelmed. As your strength and endurance improve, gradually increase the time and intensity of your workouts.
Also remember that there are other factors, other than Diet that actually influence Weight gain or loss. These include things like Stress, Sleep patterns, Hormonal Health, Medication, Alcohol & Drug abuse, Exposure to toxins etc.
In my coaching program, I effectively address all the above to make sure that the plan I come up with for you, cater for your needs as well as your routines 💯.
